About this blog

This is my blog on the arts scene of Carrboro, Chapel Hill and surrounding Triangle communities. I'll focus on visual arts and the 2ndFriday Artwalk and other visual art events but that doesn't mean I won't chat about music, literary events, film or anything else in the local creative world. Please email with ideas, links, comments or brickbats. [I have comment moderation on so if you don't see your comment right away that means that I haven't had a chance to approve it yet. Sorry, but the spammers.....]

Love Language video and a note on an art party

The Love Language are a very good local band with a terrific new album.  The excellent Triangle Music blog has a post on the band here.   Excellent stuff!

One reason I mention it is that they will playing this Saturday night, November 6th, for the after party for the Ackland Museum's Silver Factory Gala  celebrating the museum's exhibit of Warhol Polaroids. The after party is at the Top of the Hill, downtown Chapel Hill.

More info after the jump....

THE SILVER FACTORY GALA is an avant-garde evening of fine food and drink, performances, live music, and dancing at the Top of the Hill and the Ackland Art Museum, all in the spirit of Andy Warhol's Silver Factory.
Picture the scene: Art is being made on the floor and the walls around you, you're rubbing shoulders with poets and musicians, the room is abuzz with an air of celebrit...A photographer snaps pictures of the crowd...Silver balloons float by...
7:00 PM -- The GALA begins at the Top of the Hill -- enjoy delicious food, signature drinks, instant photos, live music by the Shakedown, on-site portrait making by artist Louis St. Lewis, and silk screening by Ron Liberti.
8:00 PM -- The Ackland Art Museum opens its doors to all GALA ticket holders and guests may move between the two venues (mind the paparazzi on the red carpet!). The evening continues with Warhol-inspired screen tests, period music, gallery tours, and poetry performances by The Sacrificial Poets.
10:30 PM -- THE AFTER PARTY begins. Enjoy great food and free beer at Top of the Hill. Local indie-rock legends The Love Language perform at 11 PM. A midnight dance party includes Deejay Pez spinning a specially-curated mix of the best dance tunes. Stay until 2:00 AM and party knowing that daylight savings gets you an extra hour of sleep!
Festive attire.
Tickets for the after party are $50 but it's for a good cause -- the arts in the Triangle.
