About this blog

This is my blog on the arts scene of Carrboro, Chapel Hill and surrounding Triangle communities. I'll focus on visual arts and the 2ndFriday Artwalk and other visual art events but that doesn't mean I won't chat about music, literary events, film or anything else in the local creative world. Please email with ideas, links, comments or brickbats. [I have comment moderation on so if you don't see your comment right away that means that I haven't had a chance to approve it yet. Sorry, but the spammers.....]

The WSJ on the new Tift Merritt cd

The Wall Street Journal has a glowing review of local girl Tift Merritt's new cd Traveling Alone. With help from Andrew Byrd, John Convertino (Calexico), guitarist Marc Ribot, ex-Son Volt guitarist Eric Heywood and others, Tift "put together what's likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime group of musicians that gives her new compositions an undeniable drive and a distinctive personality." You can stream three of the songs from the WSJ article.

There appear to be single night tickets for the YepRoc 15th anniversary celebration (starting tonight through Saturday) for the Saturday show at Cats Cradle that includes Tift along with John Doe, Chatham County Line, Jim White, The Sadies, The Minus 5, and Host John Wesley Harding. A bargain at $40.
